Secret Meeting of Ramoji and Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Yes, it is surprising to many and of course to YSRCP leaders also. The stanch rivals have a cool meeting the other day at Ramoji Film City.  In an hour-long meeting with his arch rival and media baron Ch Ramoji Rao , Jagan, along with his close confidant and former TTD Trust Board chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, had reportedly discussed the roadmap of Jagan’s agitation programs, scheduled very shortly! What transpired between the two remained a top secret. The development came as a big surprise even to the YSR Congress party leaders, as they were left clueless as to why their boss had chosen to meet Ramoji Rao whom he hated most till recently. The timing of the meeting also came as a shock for them, as Jagan is getting ready to launch his fast-unto-death at Guntur from September 27 demanding special status to Andhra Pradesh.

When contacted, a top spokesperson of the YSR Congress party said he had no clue about the meeting which was a surprise even to him. “Nothing much could be read into the chance meeting. There are no permanent enemies or friends in politics and media. Courtesies demand people in public life to meet, greet, wine and dine,” he said. Sources said a media veteran had brokered the peace between Jagan and Ramoji Rao, ever since the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated last year.

Since then, there have been no attacks and counter-attacks by the two media groups – Eenadu belonging to Ramoji Rao and Sakshi, belonging to Jagan. But, they continued to maintain distance from each other at least in public. A couple of months ago, Jagan met Ramoji Rao for the first time at a wedding of film star Manchu Manoj, son of senior actor M Mohan Babu in the city in May last. Both of them shook hands, exchanged pleasantries and had personal talk for some time.

However, the Thursday’s meeting has opened up the reported understanding between the two media barons. What could have caused the sudden change of hearts between media barons is intriguing to say the least, reasons a political analyst. He reasoned that there could be three scenarios. First, Jagan might have sought the help of Ramoji Rao in wriggling out of the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate cases, since the latter had good connections with the top BJP leadership in Delhi.

Second reason could be Jagan, being the leader of the Opposition in Andhra Pradesh, might have gone to Ramoji to seek his support for his fast demanding special status to AP. Third reason, which Jagan’s party leaders say, was that it was only a chance meeting, as the YSR Congress party president had gone to Ramoji Film City to attend a private function and Ramoji Rao had invited him to his residence for a courtesy visit. The other possibility is whether Ramoji has changed mindset, towards TDP?…One can’t say this, but for sure …Ramoji’s reported differences with Chandrababu over certain issues of administration, might have reduced the distance between Ramoji and Jagan. This sounds as a speculation, but it has some meaning, according to a senior YSRCP leader, who is once a close aide of Chandrababu.
